
Sally M. Adkin’s training and passion for mathematics education has afforded her many professional opportunities. In addition to teaching mathematics at the middle school, high school, and collegiate levels, she is certified in secondary school administration and has obtained a doctorate in education research and measurement. Most recently Sally has served as Vice Chancellor for External Programs at The North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics (NCSSM). There she supervised NCSSM’s outreach programs, disseminating instructional methods and resources for K-12 teachers and serving as the Director of the NCSSM Mathematics and Science Education Center. As an advocate for student engagement in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), for more than a decade Sally served as State Coordinator for Summer Ventures in Science and Mathematics, on the MSEN Pre-College Advisory Board, and helped develop NCSSM’s Labs for Learning program newly reorganized to provide extended STEM opportunities for middle grades students.
