Economic Education

Clare E. Adkikn, Jr. is involved with contract work for the National Council on Economic Education and the North Carolina Council on Economic Education. He frequently presents at local, state and national conferences and teachers’ workshops. Clare recently served as a judge for the College Fed Challenge for the Carolinas. Curriculum and lesson plan development are his forte. Recently one of Clare’s lesson ideas was published. (Teachable Moments). He has worked with the NC Department of Public Instruction and local school districts to help implement the economic strands of North Carolina’s Standard Course of Study. In 2004, Clare was recognized at the opening of the NASDAQ as one of five finalists for the National Economic Teacher of the Year (see photo). As a result of his foreign travel and economic study aboard, he was elected to the Advisory Board for the Global Association of Teachers of Economics (GATE) and is active in the promotion of economic and financial literacy (see photo).
