Benjamin and Mary Purnell traveled the Midwest as itinerate preachers before reaching Benton Harbor, Michigan in 1903 and establishing the permanent Israelite House of David.


These eleven Israelites were drafted into the Great War in 1917 despite their pleas as conscientious objectors.


Between 1915 and 1955 Israelite baseball teams like this one traveled the U.S., Canada, Cuba, Mexico and Hawaii entertaining crowds with their athletic skills. This picture was taken in Mexico City and is proudly displayed in Harry Caray's Chicago Restauraunt.
